The Young Defenders of the Maryland Historical Society proudly invite you to the 2016 edition of our popular February Bash - this year's theme pays homage to WWII's Allied Forces! Join us on Saturday, February 27th, for a Victory Bash featuring live music and dancing, craft cocktails, an open bar, and great eats.
A songwriter from the time she could climb onto a piano bench, Beth McDonaldwas nearly 30 years old before she was willing to try to sing by herself in front of anyone - baptized by fire, so to speak, by becoming the lead singer for the nationally acclaimed DC area New Legacy Jazz Band, where she worked with her accompanist Joe Holt, who has enjoyed a 40-year career as a soloist and touring artist.
Engage your mind, spirit, and journey with Alice in Wonderland where you will laugh at the antics of TweedleDee and TweedleDum, attend the zany Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, and meet the mysterious Cheshire Cat. You will be dazzled by this Lewis Carroll classic as the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, the state’s premiere professional ballet company, weaves together dance, theater, and music to bring Wonderland to life.

This dynamic and engaging ensemble believes any music can be performed by a brass quintet. Brass Unlimited will musically journey through a myriad of musical genres including: baroque, tango, impressionism, jazz, funk, and some rock & roll! Learn the humble beginnings of brass instruments and their evolution through different musical styles.

He is a veritable apostle of classical music, fervently promoting the genre and broadening its reach to Audiences young and old.

Bring your dog the second SUNDAY of each month at 10 am! Hike on the grounds of our animal shelter’s forested wildlife sanctuary in Reisterstown, led by a Baltimore Humane Society staff member.

· $2 per dog participation fee and no prior registration required
· Moderate hiking level so dog and hiker need to be able to maneuver trees, hills, and streams
In this 4-week class, students will explore volumetric form and color while learning to manipulate resin through carving and subtraction methods. Surface finishing, layering, and inlay of color will be taught, as well as the adaptation and inclusion of metal as findings for jewelry. This class is an excellent way to introduce color into one's work. No experience necessary.
