Illustration Department faculty member Shadra Strickland graduated from Syracuse University and the School of Visual Arts, both in New York. She received the Coretta Scott
King - John Steptoe Award for New Talent and the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award for illustrations in picture book Bird, and a 2010 NAACP Image Award. She will discuss her life as a book illustrator.
