Reading with Your Child: How to Make Books Fun and Interactive for Children with ASD

There are many challenges that parents and/or caregivers face when reading with their children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). In this presentation, we will discuss strategies to enhance children's participation and engagement, while also teaching parents and/or caregivers ways in which they can promote language and social interaction while reading with their children.

This presentation will provide strategies to enhance your child's language, social interaction, and engagement during book sharing.

Presenters: Megan Myatt, MS, CCC-SLP and Stacy Booker, MS, CCC-SLP

Megan and Stacy are speech-language pathologists at Kennedy Krieger Institute's Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD). They provide treatment to children with ASD in CARD's Achievements Program as well as conduct evaluations in the CARD Clinic. Megan works primarily with children under three years of age with social and communication delays. Stacy works primarily with preschool and school-age children with ASD.
