Great Gatsby Dance Party
Great Gatsby Dance Party
Bringing Awareness to Wellness and Health, the History of the Community and Exposure to Dance and Music
Sunday, October 20, 2024, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm - Historic Emory Grove Hotel in Glyndon, MD.
Body Basic Wellness Center in Reisterstown is the title sponsor of this event. Dr. Owens is the founder of the center and is passionate about health and mental wellness. She is very excited to be a part of this community event and to talk about dancing as another way to stay in shape. People need social events like this where they can meet others and have fun, while burning calories!
This event will have a Great Gatsby theme. It’s almost 100 years since the publication of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. All attendees are being asked to bring a new or gently used book that will be donated to the Maryland Book Bank.
The 15-piece Hotel Paradise Orchestra will be performing authentic 1920s music for dancing at this event. There will be exhibition dances by ballroom dance professionals and by a local Reisterstown high school student. Included will be refreshments, food, and an array of desserts.
Emory Grove was built as a hotel in the Victorian style in 1887 but is now used as a reception and meeting venue. It is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. Participants can dress up in Gatsby attire and get their photo taken in front of a 1920s car that will be parked in front of the hotel.
