Bartholomew Fortino-Shields was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to an Italian family from Modica Ragusa, Sicily, and Cosenza Calabria, Italy. In 2022, Bartholomew completed his Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at the Peabody Institute, where he was s recipient of the Artistic Excellence Scholarship, studying under Judith Ingolfsson. Currently, Mr. Fortino-Shields is completing an Advanced Specialization course in violin repertoire at Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo with Sonig Tchakerian.
Chan Mi Jean is the Lecturer in Music at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she specializes in Collaborative Piano. She also serves as the Co-Director/Chair of Collaborative Piano for the Vilacello String and Piano Festival. Jean is an emerging solo pianist, chamber musician, and opera coach who has made international appearances and won numerous national and international competitions, including the 8th New York International Music Concours.
A native of Seoul, Korea, she received her D.M.A. in Collaborative Piano from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a minor in Opera Coaching; M.M. and P.D. in Piano Performance from Indiana University.
Mr. Fortino-Shields and Chan Mi Jean will be recording their debut album of works by Brahms, Franck and Beach on the Sheva Label in London.
