Dylan @ 80

Dylan @ 80

This year marks Bob Dylan's 80th Birthday. Come celebrate his singular talent and the wealth of his songs with some of the region's finest musicians, hosted by The Complete Unknowns. A special musical project devoted to interpreting Dylan's songs, and comprised of a veritable who's who from the Baltimore musical community, The Complete Unknowns is a side venture for current members of several local acts, with Sam Nitzberg (The Old Part Of Town) on guitar, harmonica, and lead vocals; Alex Queral (Charm City Reactors, and a visual artist who's had a show at the Creative Alliance) on lead guitar; Brian Whaley (The Old Part of Town) on keyboards and violin; John Thurston (Don't Blame Us, and local legend guitar luthier/repairman) on bass; and Jim Hannah (of Rumba Club, Boister, and a multitude of other bands) on drums. It's not just another tribute band—just as Dylan has done to keep things fresh in his own live performances, expect quite a few revamped arrangements and reworkings from this deep and varied catalog of songs.

And keeping the interpretive theme going will be their special guests, doing their own sets both with and without the Complete Unknowns:
• Singer-songwriter Caleb Stine, who the Baltimore Sun has called the “linchpin of the Baltimore folk scene"
• Stable Shakers, from Chambersburg, PA, highlighted by the thrilling voice of Brechyn Chase, formerly of The Hello Strangers
• The Tex-Mex group Los Engreidos, featuring players from The Stone Hill All-Stars, Mambo Combo, Rumba Club, and The Peabody Ragtime Ensemble
• Singer Linda Nelson, a local pillar whose southern roots can be heard in her music's soft and soulful accent
