Playing the music of Jackie McLean
Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Terry enjoys presenting music of the legends of jazz and educating audiences of musicians that are lessor known. He also enjoys composing and exposing his own compositions. Terry attended Morgan State University developing a love for Black Music Research and the contributions of African American Musicians to American Music. He has published scholarly works in The Black Perspective and the Black Music Research Journal. His early jazz studies with Thomas Grice (brother of Gigi Gryce) further developed his love of jazz improvisation and teaching.
In addition to leading his own groups, he has performed with many musicians in the DMV area in addition to Vattel's Cherry's Soulstation, The Eubie Blake Big Band and currently with The Muthafunkoholix and the Deep Water Jazz Band.
