Mental Health Forum: Special Needs Trusts and Estate Planning

Join NAMI Metro Baltimore and Mary O’Byrne for part 2 of our legal series on Wednesday, October 10th at 6:30pm at MedStar Harbor Hospital to learn about special needs trusts and estate planning.

Mary E. O’Byrne is the owner of O’Byrne Law, LLC, a practice concentrating in special needs and estate planning, and advocacy for people with disabilities. She speaks frequently on these topics for families, attorneys and other professionals.

Mary is a member of and currently serves on the board of directors for the Special Needs Alliance. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and currently serves on their Trusts and Special Needs Trusts Section Steering Committee. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mary has been recognized by SuperLawyers© in 2017 and 2018.

From 2013-2018, Mary led the Special Needs Trust Advocates group in meeting with the Social Security Administration. She served on the Maryland Governor’s 2015 Task Force on ABLE Accounts. Mary currently serves as the Vice President of the board of directors of NAMI Metro Baltimore. She was the first Executive Director and Trustee of the First Maryland Disability Trust, a pooled asset special needs trust for people with disabilities.
