Stream Restoration and Stream Creatures

Stream Restoration and Stream Creatures

Join Scott McGill, a leading local Restoration Ecologist, on a provocative and exciting hike to Davis Branch on the Conservancy property. We will explore an active colony of beaver, one of the Chesapeake Bay’s most important keystone species, and how Scott’s company, Ecotone, is using beavers to facilitate wetland restoration and water quality improvement in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. We will discuss beaver biology, ecosystem services, management techniques, and the diverse habitat their dams provide for other wildlife species.

Biography: Scott McGill is the Founder and CEO of Ecotone, Inc. a design-build ecological restoration company with offices in Forest Hill, Columbia, MD, and Charlottesville, VA.
