Phi Beta Kappa Lecture: “The Scopes Trial in History and Legend” with Edward Larson, Pulitzer Prize-Winning Historian and the Hugh and Hazel Darling Chair in Law at Pepperdine University

The annual Phi Beta Kappa lecture features Edward Larson, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and the Hugh and Hazel Darling Chair in Law at Pepperdine University. He speaks on “The Scopes Trial in History and Legend,” one of the most famous trials in American history due to the fictional movie “Inherit the Wind.” However, he argues that most people who think they know about this trial do not accurately understand what happened in Dayton, Tenn., or appreciate its ongoing significance.
