Mansfield Park by Jonathan Dove

Mansfield Park by Jonathan Dove

The Peabody Chamber Opera returns to Theatre Project with the US premiere of Mansfield Park by Jonathan Dove, based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the novel's publication.

The story follows poor Fanny Price who is sent to live with her uncle, Sir Thomas Bertram, at his family estate, Mansfield Park.

The opera, which premiered in 2011, was commissioned by Heritage Opera, a professional touring opera company based in northwest England. The 10-singer ensemble cast includes Claire Weber as Fanny Price, Natanya Washer as Maria Bertram, and Karl Buttermann as Thomas Bertram. Johanna Kvam and Hanna Shin will play the four-hand piano score. Eileen Cornett is the Music Director, and Mark Streshinsky is Stage Director.

Composer Jonathan Dove and librettist Alasdair Middleton will take part in the pre-show OpOrations discussion and a post-show Q&A on opening night, February 12.
