Mental Health Forum: In Our Own Voice

Mental Health Forum: In Our Own Voice

Join NAMI Metro Baltimore volunteers, Yi Chen and Tevis Simon, as they share personal perspectives of what it’s like to live with a mental health condition. Through storytelling, the NAMI In Our Own Voice presentation changes attitudes, assumptions, and stereotypes about people with mental health conditions. These presentations provide hope for a brighter future and allow audience members to ask questions to deepen their understanding of mental illness.

Yi Chen has been volunteering with NAMI for one year as a trained In Our Own Voice presenter and peer support group facilitator, alongside her psychiatric service dog, Bumbi. Tevis Simon has volunteered with NAMI for two years. She is a NAMI In Our Own Voice presenter and connects community members to NAMI’s resources at outreach events throughout Baltimore.

NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore presents mental health forums about various topics on the 2nd Wednesday evening of every month. Attendance is free for NAMI members and $5 for non-members.
