Organ Concert Celebrating John Walker

Spectacular Organ Concert

Four outstanding organists will present a concert honoring John Walker, much loved Minister of Music Emeritus at Brown Memorial, Peabody faculty member, and immediate past president of the American Guild of Organists The concert will be on Sunday, November 6 at 3 p.m. at Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1320 Park Avenue in the Bolton Hill neighborhood of Baltimore.

The organists are a star-studded group!
* Marie-Louse Langlais, one of France’s most distinguished organists, co-titular organist at Ste Clothilde for many years; author of Jean Langlais Remembered.
* Eileen Guenther, three-term president of the AGO, author, and Professor of Church Music at Wesley Theological Seminary; her specialty is global music.
* Henry Lowe, who recently retired after 32 years at Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore; he has performed at St. Paul’s in London and Paris’s Notre Dame.
* Michael Britt, Brown Memorial’s Minister of Music and nationally known theater organist; he, too, has given a concert at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and studied at the Paris Conservatory of Music.

The program also includes premieres of choral works by JoyAnne Amani Richardson and others written to honor John Walker. JoyAnne and John Walker will play piano and organ on the concert’s concluding piece.

Tickets to this Tiffany series event are $20 general admission and $10 for students, and are available at the door and in advance (recommended) at: www.BrownDownTown.org/current-season. Parking and shuttle service will be available. The church is wheelchair accessible.
