The Cris Jacobs Band with Amy Helm & the Handsome Strangers

The Cris Jacobs Band with Amy Helm & the Handsome Strangers

Singer/songwriter Amy Helm, the late Levon Helm’s daughter, begins the evening with her soulful voice and original lyrics. Hot off the road from recent collaborations with artists including Ivan Neville, Steve Winwood and Sturgill Simpson, Baltimore-based singer-songwriter Cris Jacobs and his band will round out the evening exploring the outer realms of bluegrass, folk, funk, country, blues, soul, and rock with stylistic reverence and emotional sincerity.

Cris began his career fronting the acclaimed award-winning band The Bridge, releasing four albums in 10 years and averaging 200 shows a year. His solo debut Songs for Cats and Dogs came out to critical acclaim in 2012, featuring poignant songwriting, burly riffs, with dazzling guitar playing featuring a bucolic pedal steel guitar. This concert will debut the Cris Jacobs Band second album, Dust to Gold, set to release in late October 2016.

Amy Helm releases a powerful statement with her debut album Didn't It Rain, a spellbinding set exploring the universal themes of life, love and loss.

Amy has been making music for most of her life, winning widespread praise as a singer, songwriter and live performer, first as a member of the celebrated alt-country collective Ollabelle, and subsequently for her extensive work with her father, musical icon Levon Helm.

From smoldering, soulful ballads, to hushed and sometimes stark, haunting songs, Amy just wants to “shake people out of their own heads for an hour or two, and bring some joy into the world.”
