Introduction to Electroforming

Introduction to Electroforming

April Wood | Mondays 6:30 - 10:00pm | September 12 - November 28

Electroforming is a chemical and electrical process in which metal grows, or plates, over a model, creating a hollow metal shell. This technique allows for the creation of very fluid, lightweight, three-dimensional forms. In this class, students learn how to set up an electroforming system, work in wax to create models to be electroformed, turn electroformed pieces into finished works of art, as well as incorporate electroforming into other art mediums. In addition, students explore patination, foiling, and soldering onto electroformed pieces. No experience necessary.
