Comedy Night: Barry Crimmins

Comedy Night: Barry Crimmins

Creative Alliance is pleased to host a true comedian’s comic, the legendary Barry Crimmins. Known for his rapid-fire technique and scathing political commentary, Crimmins is a former Air America Radio writer and correspondent, internationally recognized political satirist and author of the acclaimed Seven Stories Press book Never Shake Hands With A War Criminal. Crimmins will forever be linked to the Boston comedy scene. In the late ‘70s, he helped found two of Boston’s most fabled clubs The Ding Ho and Stitches, where then local comics such as Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Kevin Meaney cut their teeth. He has been an active touring comic for over three decades, helping to usher in a modern comedy scene.

Recently, Crimmins was the subject of Bobcat Goldthwait's documentary "Call Me Lucky,” which debuted at the Maryland Film Festival in 2015. The film chronicles Crimmins' life, his work in comedy -- but more importantly, his personal one-man crusade against child abuse on the Internet, specifically at AOL.
