An evening of short plays written and produced by The Weekday Players, a student-run theatre company dedicated to creating art and providing practical experience for students.
The First Friday series at St. David’s continues with a concert featuring the music of Michael Hersch, performed by ‘cellist Lavena Johanson. A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, Ms. Johanson has performed with the Baltimore Symphony, and as a soloist with the Saratoga Orchestra and the Peabody Symphony; she is also only the second cellist to perform the demanding cello sonatas of Michael Hersch.
Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter, this comprehensive event will inform the community about memory loss, support caregivers, share the promise of research and advise on getting involved to help conquer this disease.
Dr. Goldie Byrd (dean of Arts and Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University and principal investigator of the Center for Outreach in Alzheimer's Aging and Community Health) will give the keynote speech on Alzheimer's Disease: Community Awareness, Empowerment and Engagement.
All aboard! The sounds of travel come alive as we sing about cars, trucks, trains and boats.
30 minutes prior to the concert, the lobby fills with a range of musical, creative and fun activities for babies and families.
Created for babies ages 6 months through 3 years old.
Please note: Attendees of all ages are required to have a ticket. Concerts take place in the lobby and seating is unreserved.
Artistry in Baltimore takes many shapes, from past artisans who sculpted intricate funeral markers in GreenMount Cemetery to today’s artisans creating works in paper, plastic and metal at Open Works in a historic distribution warehouse. Our tour will start at Open Works, a newly opened maker-space that provides tools and equipment for artists and entrepreneurs to create all kinds of things in all kinds of media. The building is the former distribution warehouse for the Railway Express Agency, and we’ll get a look at their facilities and some of the work going on there.
Join NEM for our workshop on "Building Electronic Circuits". Students will explore electronic components and circuits such as sound generators, detectors, and controllers using SNAP circuits.
Light City Teen Scholars, a program of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and Kaiser Permanente, announce a half-day program called “Find Your Light,” taking place at Motor House (120 North Avenue) on Saturday, November 5 from 11am to 3pm. During “Find Your Light,” teens are invited to partake in an afternoon of games, art, conversation and self-empowerment, free of charge.

Join Deep Vision Dance Company for our open Community Improvisation Jams. All artists and passionate improvisers are invited to explore, intersect, react in the moment, and meet friends for future collaborations. Dancers, actors, musicians, visual artists, and literary artists are all welcome to contribute and build a rich creative environment. Participants are asked to follow one guideline: When you enter the space, you are fully committed to the jam session through moving, playing, drawing, writing, or meditating.
