The Baltimore Museum of Art seeks Major Gifts Officer

The Baltimore Museum of Art seeks a full-time Major Gifts Officer to lead the BMA’s major gifts, annual giving and advancement events staff. This position will be part of the Advancement Leadership team and assume a major role in prospect management including cultivating, soliciting and stewarding professional relationships with individual prospects and donors who have the capacity to make five to seven figure personal gifts and/or gifts through a family foundation or donor advised fund.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as member of senior advancement team to formulate strategies and implementation of plans to achieve fundraising goals
  • Carry a portfolio of 75-100 prospects and donors with five-to-seven figure capacity.
  • Supervise the Director and Assistant Director of Annual Giving and the Assistant Director of Advancement Events.
  • Guide departmental staff in moving individual donors and prospects through the moves management model of the donor cycle.
  • Staff various board committees.
  • Work collaboratively with Advanement staff, Director, and key staff members in curatorial, education, and marketing and experience to develop successful donor strategies

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent professional experience • Master’s Degree preferred • 10 years progressively responsible experience in fund raising • Minimum of 4 years in a leadership role with responsibility for managing Advancement staff • Integral knowledge and involvement with a donor/contact management system (i.e. Blackbaud or similar) • Excellent communication and presentation skills • Adept at developing strong relationships externally with donors, board members, advisory boards, and internally with senior level management, and internal staff from various department • Strong knowledge in MS Office suite • Exceptional time management, organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills BENEFITS The BMA is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
