BALTIMORE, Maryland — July 23, 2019: Today, Iron Crow Theatre announced the 19/20 Season of the Renegade: A 10 Year Anniversary Celebration. For a decade, Iron Crow Theatre has remained solely committed to producing theatrical work dedicated to the exploration and celebration of the queer experience.
“Celebrating our 10 year anniversary is a remarkable milestone that belongs to all of us — made possible by the renegades who have come before as well as the continued support of our growing community of artists and patrons,” said Mr. Sean Elias, Iron Crow Theatre’s Artistic Director. “This season, we celebrate the spirit of resilience and defiance that birthed Iron Crow Theatre and that today remains very much a part of its DNA. Featuring regional premieres, new musicals, and cult classics alike, the 19/20 Season of the Renegade is unapologetically bold, absolutely fearless, and unabashedly queer. While we celebrate our first decade, we also welcome our next, solidifying our commitment to telling queer stories that celebrate the renegade and unorthodox in all of us.”
The 19/20 Season of the Renegade begins in September with award-winning playwright Jen Silverman’s absurdist dark comedy Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, which follows five different women named Betty as they collide at the intersection of anger, sex, and the “Thea-Tah”. In February, Baltimore’s favorite award-winning tradition, The Rocky Horror Show, returns with a Valentine’s Day spin like you’ve never seen before. And in late May and June, in celebration of Pride Month, Jordan Seavey’s Homos, or Everyone in America, a fearless, funny, heart-on-its-sleeve examination of the moments that can bring two people together – or pull them apart, makes its regional debut.
All performances take place at the historic Baltimore Theatre Project located at 45 West Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties
Written by Jen Silverman
Directed by Dr. Natka Bianchini
Friday, September 6 - Sunday, September 15, 2019
Heralded by The New York Times as “a full-tilt lesbian/bi-curious/genderqueer/Shakespearean comedy for everyone,” Collective Rage, A Play in 5 Betties follows five different women named Betty as they collide at the intersection of anger, sex, and the “Thea-Tah.” Betty is rich; Betty is lonely; Betty’s busy working on her truck; Betty wants to talk about love, but Betty needs to hit something; and Betty keeps using a small hand mirror to stare into parts of herself she’s never examined. Award-winning playwright, Jen Silverman’s absurdist dark comedy is simultaneously hilarious, inspired and boldly unapologetic. Are you ready for the revolution?

Book, Music and Lyrics by Richard O’Brien
Directed by Quae Simpson
Friday, February 7 - Sunday, February 16, 2020
Baltimore's award-winning and favorite tradition, The Rocky Horror Show, returns with a Valentine’s Day spin like you've never seen before! Experience this quintessential queer theatrical experience live on stage — complete with call-outs, cascading toilet paper, and an array of other audience participation props. In this live stage musical best known for the 1980’s cult film, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, seek shelter at a mysterious old castle on a dark and stormy night, where they encounter transvestite scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Dr. Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named "Rocky." Bring your sweetheart (or sweethearts!) to this deliberately kitschy rock 'n' roll sci-fi gothic thriller, now more daring and outrageous than ever!
