This series guides students through act creation from start to finish through internal and external work, all the while incorporating mindful techniques for both on and off the stage. In this 6-Week class you will experience the passion and the fierceness of Merengue, one of the international symbols of the Caribbean and Latin American dances. Throughout the class we will work together as a group to bring out the best in each other and connect with the roots of this cultural dance style. This course is going to consist of a weekly 2 hour class from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday’s and finalizing with the closing act of an optional Performance at the Creative Alliance at The Patterson.

Buckjumping is a feature-length documentary about dance traditions in New Orleans, observing both their contemporary expression and abiding significance. The film follows six communities as they demonstrate ownership of the streets of New Orleans, commemorate their dead, forge community, and find spiritual transcendence.

Creative Alliance and Shaolin Jazz proudly present a unique film experience catered to the lovers of Kung-Fu flicks, the music they inspire, and everything else in between. At each CAN I KICK IT? show, we screen a cult-classic martial arts film with a unique scene-by-scene score. The result is a live, remixed soundtrack to each movie. DJ 2-Tone Jones blends music using his mad DJ skills to blend genres like Hip Hop, Soul, and Funk to accentuate elements of specific scenes and fighting sequences.
