A passion for exploration comes naturally to Xylouris White, a ruggedly visionary duo with Cretan lute player George Xylouris and Australian drummer Jim White. For their debut album, 2014’s Goats, Xylouris White compares themselves to titular animals that wander fearlessly through rough-hewn terrain. Two years later, they show how far their horizons can reach with 2016’s expansive album Black Peak, which they named after a mountaintop in Crete. In 2018 they will release their third project, Mother, named to denote “new life”.

HEAVYWEIGHTPAINT is a feature length documentary film about four figurative painters: Jerome Lagarrigue, Joseph Adolphe, Tim Okamura, and Taha Clayton. They are at different points in their careers, but share the struggle to survive the difficult, often grueling, challenges of the art world. Each artist faces unique obstacles, but the painters' uncommon friendship provides the moral support to spur them onward.
Artist and musician Lonnie Holley recorded his first album in 2012 when he was 62-years-old after making home recordings for more than two decades. Holley’s music, like his art, defies classification — haunting vocals, keyboards, and new renditions of songs with every performance. He has collaborated with musicians such as Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, Bill Callahan, and Bon Iver. Holley’s medium is the moment. He’s here with a new band, playing new arrangements and new songs: you’ll only hear it once.
Alex Zhang Hungtai, known for his lo-fi electro crooning project Dirty Beaches, juxtaposes electronic music with the large-format photographs of artist Adam Davies.

By the time Tal National reached international acclaim with 2013’s ‘Kaani’, the band’s first release outside of Niger, they had spent more than a decade crisscrossing their native country, playing epic five-hour sets, seven days a week, selling their CDs on street corners and roundabouts. In the process, they became Niger’s most popular band, with songs constantly blasting on national TV and cell phones everywhere. Following their international debut, Western audiences and critics quickly embraced the band’s singular and finely-honed sound.
