This engaging discussion will explore the evolution of Maryland’s pilotage profession—from the rigorous apprenticeship process and modern-day challenges to its deep roots in the age of sail.
The University of Baltimore will finish its year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary with a historic event on Thursday, Nov. 13, inviting students, alumni, supporters and more for a festive evening of both looking back and gazing into the future—of education, opportunity, and the unique way that the University serves the people and institutions of greater Baltimore. The Centennial Grand Celebration will take place at the M&T Bank Exchange, 401 W.
Presented by Maryland Public Television, join us for an evening preview screening of Ken Burns’ The American Revolution, an expansive, evenhanded look at the virtues and the contradictions in the fight for independence and the birth of the United States. Attendees are invited to generate a time capsule letter to future generations, detailing their lives, thoughts, and feelings on the current state of American democracy.
The Arun Ramamurthy Trio creates a groundbreaking fusion of South Indian Carnatic traditions and contemporary jazz, weaving masterful improvisations through ancient ragas and modern rhythms. Led by violinist Arun Ramamurthy alongside drummer Sameer Gupta and bassist Damon Banks, the trio explores themes of migration and ancestral wisdom through original compositions.

Festive Holiday Event Takes Ticket Holders Around Baltimore City to Experience - Vibrant Holiday Light Displays While Learning a Little History
NHSM is thrilled to join over 2,200 museums across the globe for Museum Store Sunday, a day dedicated to purposeful shopping and community support. Though our museum remains officially closed for renovations, we’re opening our doors for one extraordinary day to host a holiday marketplace unlike anything you’ll find in stores—or online.
Warm up at MCHC during the historic Washington Monument lighting! Organized by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy, this annual tradition has taken place in Baltimore since 1971. Enjoy a self-serve hot chocolate bar and live holiday carols, and receive a free custom hand-cut silhouette portrait from Lauren Muney, local traditional silhouette artist. Registration is required. Free Museum admission between 5 and 8 pm.
