Join us at the Walters for free art-making activities! What objects hold special memories for you? Explore and reflect on those memories by creating a weaving that ties your objects together. We will use materials including fabric and found objects inspired by the mixed media and textiles created by Baltimore artist Elizabeth Talford Scott. All ages are welcome.
Art Seminar Group online lecture:
William Merritt Chase and the International Style with Aneta Georgievska-Shine, professor of art history, University of Maryland
With a career that straddled two continents and two centuries, William Merritt Chase (1849–1916) was in many respects “a citizen of the world.” Renowned in international art circles, he was a brilliant observer of contemporary life, an innovative painter, and an influential teacher. His multifaceted practice ranged from striking portraits and still lifes to glorious urban park scenes, landscapes, and interiors.
Artists are at the center of the mission of Baltimore Clayworks, and provide the organization with talent and innovation to inspire our community and enliven the artistic impact of ceramics in our region. Meet the artists and learn about their work, their inspiration, and their creative processes. Talks are live.
