What is it?
About this class:
Over six weeks, you will develop the core skills needed to host and perform a professional showcase of improv comedy. Highwire Improv's expert instructors will be with you every step of the way, holding the space to make silly choices, explore comedy, and learn how to create art together. By the end of the class, you will be an ensemble ready to host and put on a full student showcase!
Each class session will run from 6:30pm-8:30pm ET, with optional time available after class to discuss and debrief.
Week 1 (May 13): Review, Scenes, and Editing
Join us every Wednesday of December for singing and fun at the Catonsville Clubhouse.
A song circle is a friendly jam session on acoustic instruments only. Hand drums are okay. Songs can include originals or favorite covers. We'll take turns around the circle. If it's your turn, you can do your song solo or you may request accompaniment. You may invite the whole group to join in, or you may invite specific individuals (you may have worked out an arrangement). The important thing is that you choose how to put your music across.
A fun and creative exploration that includes sharing, writing and art-making for APIMEDA folks and friends. Facilitated by Sel Hwahng (Towson University Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, Health, and Sexuality) and Rieko Chacey (Multimedia artist and Towson University faculty of Graphic Design & Interactive Media).
About the Facilitators
Learn the fundamentals of improv comedy with skilled and supportive instructors from Highwire Improv. We’ll play some very silly games, learn how to create characters, explore techniques to collaborate and create as a team, and even perform full improvised scenes together! Of course, you won’t be facing this new experience alone—you’ll be learning these new skills with a team of new improvisers, and by the end you’ll be ready to put on a showcase for your friends, family, and fans!
