This Spring the Digital Media Center (DMC) at Johns Hopkins University is hosting Research Remix, an ongoing program that brings together visual art and academic research. JHU students and faculty in the sciences are submitting their research posters and data for local artists to translate into visual art. Programming kicks off on February 20th when the DMC will host a public reception at the JHU Homewood campus where participating artists and researchers will exchange ideas.
Adam Swanson is rapidly becoming known as one of the world’s foremost performers and historians of ragtime and early American popular music, and he is now beginning graduate studies as a musicology student at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Although he is only twenty-two years old, Adam has been a featured performer and lecturer at ragtime and jazz festivals across the United States, and he is the youngest three-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest.
Open Space Arts of Reisterstown, MD will be performing their enchanting version of Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie at St. Mary's Theater. The play will be directed by Open Space's very own Katie Ganem (director of the 2014 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream) and will star Chloe Arroyo as Peter Pan, Amber Thomas as Wendy Darling, and Will Dalrymple as Captain Hook and Mr. Darling. It will take place on February 20th and 21st at 7:30pm and February 22nd at 2:30pm.
“Friends With Shadows” is a meditation on the universality of experience,
drawing inspiration from the dance between the sun and moon and Jungian assimilation of the shadow self.
By contesting the divisions stemming from the nature of polarities, Palmer generates images that embrace the realms of light and dark allowing these visual projections to balance the self with the other.

One act will feature a mixture of sketches and BIG performers; the other will bring you the men and women of Gentlemen's Hour with a combination of sketches and improvised advice to improve your manliness. Dance Connections joins the Orchestra for its popular Young People's Concerts featuring Carnival of the Animals and music from Frozen.
