RA Sushi is extending its annual St. Jude fundraiser to a year-long initiative called RA’ckin’ for Nicky. Three menu favorites will be featured as St. Jude menu items, and $2 from each item purchased will go directly to St. Jude’s lifesaving work. Order one or all of these delicious items including the “RA”ckin’ Shrimp Tacos, Mango Shrimp Roll, and Coconut Crème Brulee and help RA Sushi support St. Jude. The UMBC Collegium Musicum, directed by Lindsay Johnson, is dedicated to the exploration and performance of vocal and instrumental music from the European Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, sampling musical repertoires created between 800 and 1750. The ensemble explores convention and innovation by pairing music that pushed boundaries in its time with music that followed stylistic conventions.
Admission is free.
Born in Hong Kong and raised in Oregon, award-winning poet Marilyn Chin unflinchingly explores the intersection of the Asian and American worlds. Donna Seaman (Booklist) noted Chin “paces the line demarcated by the words Chinese American like a caged tiger, fury just barely held in check.” Ms. Chin will read from and discuss her poetry, including her recent work, Hard Love Province, winner of the 2015 Anisfield-Wolf National Prize for Literature that confronts racism and examines diversity.
