Join us to walk the preserved, picturesque streets of one of the earliest neighborhoods in Baltimore while we look back at the stories of both its famous visitors and the ordinary Baltimoreans who worked and raised their families here.
Join Friends of Patterson Park Director, Jennifer Robinson, and Baltimore Heritage Director, Johns Hopkins, to get an intro to the layers of history that lie beneath Baltimore’s best back yard! Who is the Patterson in our name, what’s the park’s connection to Frederick Douglass, what helped the park’s renaissance over the last 25 years, and why do we have cannons and an “observatory”? The park’s history is fascinating and will add to your appreciation for this jewel of a public space.
The Strata ensemble joins forces with cellist Amy Sue Barston in a program featuring Stomping Grounds(2015) by Karim Al-Zand (b. 1970) and Olivier Messiaen‘s timeless masterpiece Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time), written while the composer was a prisoner of war in 1940–41.
Imagine time-traveling one night through the dark cabarets and speakeasies of New York, Paris, Berlin, London, and Atlantic City, reliving the 1920s in all its decadence…Prohibition, Gangsters, Ingenues, and Intrigue. PROHIBITION takes you on a journey through the era, from Rudy Vallée to Josephine Baker, from Kurt Weill to King Oliver, featuring the top hits of the decade authentically arranged for orchestra by Grammy-winner Jeff Tyzik, accompanied by vintage imagery and video from the period.

In this fun and free annual event, some of your favorite sections of the Columbia Concert Band, Patuxent Jazz Band, and Flute Cocktail will show off their skills. This year's lineup includes a sax quartet, a french horn ensemble, a brass quintet, a mixed wind quintet, and both high and low clarinet quartets.

Herbert Dimmock leads the Bach in Baltimore Choir and Orchestra and two choirs from our Student Exchange Program are joined by soprano, alto, tenor, and bass soloists in one of the greatest choral works ever composed: Handel Israel in Egypt. With over 100 musicians on stage, experience the epic story of the Israelites exodus from Egypt.
UMBC's Department of Music presents a screening of the new film Deep Listening: The Story of Pauline Oliveros, a documentary project on the life and work of American icon Pauline Oliveros, directed by Daniel Weintraub.

Join us for our newest family program: Stories & Art in the Galleries! Children will enjoy a story and complimentary age-appropriate art activity while viewing CAC's latest gallery exhibit. In conjunction with the Maryland Day celebration, we're reading "The Hidden Rainbow" a story about the colors in a beautiful Spring garden . After the story, children will be invited to try their hand at wool felting. This program is in conjunction with the "Botanical Alchemy: Women's Souls in Full Bloom" exhibit by artists Alla and Milana Borovskaia.

Ryan Hanseler presents his monthly series at An Die Musik, The Baltimore Shed Sessions. Each month will feature Ryan's group performing new compositions and arrangements followed by an open invitation to all jazz musicians to bring in the music they're working on and want to have a chance to perform live. This can include songs you've written or arranged and have a clear chart for, or simply a new standard you're learning. This is both a concert as well as a workshop for musicians to learn and grow!
