Step back in time on the grounds of the Union Mills Homestead, Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22 for a Civil War Encampment and Living History. Two days of special events commemorate Civil War history at the actual encampment sites of J.E.B. Stuart’s Cavalry and Sykes’ Union V Corps. Cavalry, Infantry, and Artillery drills, living history, and skirmishes as visitors get a front row view of Civil War military forces and the effect on civilians at the Union Mills Homestead, where both Union and Confederate forces rested before the decisive battle at Gettysburg.
Enjoy a Paleo-Expedition as you are guided through a dino-themed story time; participate in a Tiny Dino Dig while engaging in creative, interactive play; and work up a sweat as you explore body movement through physical activity in Dino-cize! Jazz pianist and composer Spenser Charles returns to Germano’s with his trio for an exciting night of original music and old standards. Studying piano since the age of 7, Spenser has won many awards recognizing his playing and compositions. Spenser's mature musical style is heavily influenced by contemporary artists such as Ahmad Jamal and Robert Glasper. His compositions demonstrate a soulful piano trio style, evoking complex harmonic movement that emotionally connects with his audience. His solos are sensitive and thoughtful, though he is not afraid to showcase his abundant technique.

Join us on a tour of Federal Hill and the neighborhood around it to learn about this waterfront community’s rich history, including stops at one of the last wooden houses in the city, the oldest house in Federal Hill, and the wonderful alley houses along Churchill Street.

Adam Swanson is rapidly becoming known as one of the world's foremost performers and historians of ragtime and early American popular music. We were fortunate to forge a friendship with Adam when he was completing graduate studies as a musicology student at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Although he is only twenty-three years old, Adam has been a featured performer and lecturer at ragtime and jazz festivals across the United States, and he is the youngest three-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest.
