Talks by artists Lynne Parks and Jieyu Zhang as part of the Birdland and the Anthropocene exhibition at The Peale Center. Exhibition runs through 29 October, 2017.

On the Second Saturday of each month the Baltimore County Arts Guild offers a free family art making activity for artists of all ages. No registration is required. See artwork on exhibit and create artwork of your own. Different activities each month. Clay, collage, pastels, painting, printmaking, sewing.... Develop creative problem solving abilities, and improve communication skills while having lots of fun!
October 15- make a sculpture
November– make peace paintings
December– print peace flags
January– create your dream vacation
Participants may wish to bring to this demo a clay sculpture and I will advise them on how it can be cast. Rubber Mold Making will also be discussed as well as materials that can be substituted for the clay and patinas and surface coloration.
Jim Paulsen was born in Iowa and grew up in Illinois. He has a BS from Western Illinois University, an MA from Northern Illinois University and an MFA from the University of Delaware. Jim is a Professor Emeritus from Towson University where he taught for 42 years and was head of the Sculpture Program.
The Ariel Quartet, originally from Israel, has rapidly earned a sterling reputation for its bold versatility and soulful interpretations. Following its 2016 Carnegie Hall debut, the youthful group comes to Baltimore with a program of works by Schumann, Kurtág, and Beethoven.

Begun in the early 1800s on land donated by John Eager Howard, Baltimore’s iconic Lexington Market holds the title as the oldest market in America. Ralph Waldo Emerson also dubbed it “the gastronomic capital of the world.”
The Jewish Museum of Maryland will host a major traveling exhibit, Discovery and Recovery: Preserving Iraqi Jewish Heritage from October 15, 2017 to January 15, 2018. The exhibit details the dramatic recovery of historic materials relating to the Jewish community in Iraq from a flooded basement in Saddam Hussein’s intelligence headquarters, and the National Archives’ ongoing work in support of U.S. Government efforts to preserve these materials.
Music in the Valley brings world-class musicians to St. John’s Episcopal Church – Western Run Parish. The concert series began in 2008 in partnership with Jonathan Carney, concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, to fulfill a need for quality chamber music in this mostly rural area. Past performances have included classical music ensembles that have met with rave reviews. Each performance begins on a Sunday evening at 5:30 and is followed by a buffet/reception where concertgoers can mingle with the artists.
