The Brentano String Quartet, which has performed across five continents, and clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein, winner of the Avery Fischer Career Grant Award and director of winds at Maryland’s Peabody Conservatory, will join forces to perform chamber music including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet. The concert is part of the Candlelight Concert Society’s 50th-anniversary season.

Foss will lead a tour of instruments in the museum’s Indigenous Arts of the Ancient Americas collection and engage us in the sophisticated ways these cultures have used sound, music, iconography, and sculpture to express their world visions. Learn to build your own clay flute using ancient pottery-making techniques and contemplate the relevance of ancestral wisdom in our world today.

UMBC’s 12th annual Livewire festival — Livewire: Flow — presents Dream Prayer Observatory, a multidisciplinary collaboration between Dan Bailey (photography and video), Linda Dusman (composer), Brian Jones (technical director), Sandra Lacy (choreography and dancer), Alan Wonneberger (recording and audio design), and Airi Yoshioka (violin).

Join artist, Adrianna Morgan, in the illumination of her site-specific installation honoring the Indo-Caribbean “bamboo bending” tradition of creating decorative forms to display sacred South Asian oil lamps (diyas). Listen to an artist talk to learn about this practice and the art installation from Adrianna and her production team, and explore Diwali customs with artist, Shanthi Chandrasekar.
