Learn more about Asia Booth, sister of John Wilkes Booth. Presented by Kate Ramirez. She is a 19th century researcher, speaker, and living historian who specializes in the Lincoln assassination. She has presented on different aspects of the Lincoln assassination for several organizations including the Society for Women and the Civil War, Tudor Hall, Historic Port Royal, and the Surratt Society. She also speaks about the events of 1865 through her work as a volunteer docent at the Dr. Samuel A. Mudd House Museum and as an employee of Historic Port Tobacco Village.
Lauded for his effortless musicianship and warm, rich tone, Amadi Azikiwe tours extensively throughout the United States as a solo violist, violinist, and conductor. Don’t miss his viola program on our series, accompanied by Debby Azikiwe, which will feature a virtuosic body of repertoire performed gracefully and expressively, including works by Dvorak, Bach, and Paganini.
Modern explorations of composed and improvised works by two pianists well-versed in a variety of popular genres. Following in the footsteps of the internationally known radio show Piano Jazz (NPR), this concert will showcase the breadth of sonic possibilities within a setting usually limited to four-hand Classical works.

The Baltimore Regional Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is now compensating disabled veterans while they train at our non-profit Therapeutic Alternatives of Maryland (TALMAR’s) Breaking New Ground program. Veterans looking for a path to employment can contact their nearest vocational rehabilitation counselor to gain full admittance into our program, using Chapter 31 benefits. Veterans can take this training at no out-of-pocket costs and receive paid compensation throughout the program’s duration.
This special exhibit celebrates the pivotal role the arts have had in advancing the ideals of Columbia and inspiring the local community. Select artwork from The Rouse Company | The Howard Hughes Corporation art collection – originally on display at the Rouse headquarters building but largely tucked away since the company’s relocation in 2013 – will once again be on display for all to enjoy.
Collage work by artists from the Eyesplice Collective, including Ellen Mueller, Megan Hildebrandt, Magnolia Laurie, Cynthia Mason, Sarah Kelly, Sarah Nicole Phillips, and Lauren Howard.
A free reception will be held on September 15 from 6-8:30pm as part of the Arts Council’s Annual Meeting and Grant Awards presentation. Resident artists will also host Open Studios from 7-8pm that evening.

Altered Realities, MAP’s Annual Fall Benefit Exhibition, will open Thursday, September 14 and will be on display at Maryland Art Place through Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Altered Realities focuses on uncanny interpretations of the everyday experience. The show will highlight works of art that subvert the viewer’s perspectives literally or metaphorically.

The audition experience is a necessary part of the actor’s experience. This class explores the process from material selection through performance with a focus on the business of the actor.
