With a little help from strong women like Ruby Dee, Phoebe Snow and Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Ami Brabson explores the many facets of being a phenomenal woman. “…inspiration, resilience, motivation, finding our power and honoring those who have come before us. This evening of music, poetry and storytelling celebrates women who have dared to speak their minds.
Ami invites us to take this journey with her, and it couldn’t come at a more opportune time in our history as the country continues to explore issues of equity, access, race, gender and power.
Begun in the early 1800s on land donated by John Eager Howard, Baltimore’s iconic Lexington Market holds the title as the oldest market in America. Ralph Waldo Emerson also dubbed it “the gastronomic capital of the world.”
Discover the role that the Port has played in Charm City from the 18th century to today. Presented by senior museum educator Jack Burkert, in partnership with the Irish Railroad Workers Museum.

Celebrate the 200th birthday of Maryland abolitionist Frederick Douglass at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum with an array of activities honoring this iconic statesman. John Stauffer, a professor of English and African and African American Studies at Harvard University will present a lecture on Frederick Douglass’ America. Other activities will include readings of Douglass’s speeches by living history re-enactors and a children’s art and story hour with illustrator London Ladd on his recent book, Frederick's Journey: The Life of Frederick Douglass.
AmiciMusic, Baltimore's award-winning chamber music organization dedicated to performing intimate concerts in non-traditional spaces, will present this exciting and educational concert, featuring fabulous violinist, Tim Schwarz, in this program exploring some lesser-known, but simply beautiful, music by minority composers and other oppressed peoples.
