We are pleased to host five extraordinary local pianists who will each offer a 25-minute program, including remarks on the music they have selected. The concert has been professionally produced by the team of Nick Hughes & Sean Mercer, and recorded on the Steinway B piano in the serenity of First & Franklin’s beautiful sanctuary.

Shriver Hall Concert Series presents the Calidore string quartet. The Calidore Quartet’s balance of “intellect and expression” (Los Angeles Times) has won it international acclaim. The ensemble, an alum of SHCS’s Discovery Series, returns to Baltimore with the world premiere of a performance pre-recorded in New York City in a private home. The concert features the world streaming premiere of a new quartet by Hannah Lash, as well as Schubert's transcendent final quartet and Dvořák’s “American” Quartet, an ebullient work of joyous lyricism.

Co-authors Richard Carlin and Ken Bloom, with Martina Kado, PhD, the Maryland Center for History and Culture's Director of Publications, explore how they used Baltimore-born composer and pianist James Herbert “Eubie” Blake’s personal collections—housed in the MCHC’s H. Furlong Baldwin Library—to write their biography, Eubie Blake: Rags, Rhythm, and Race.

Drummer Brendan Brady is an experienced performer, educator, and composer based in Baltimore. He completed his undergraduate studies at Towson University where he studied with Drummer Frank Russo and Saxophonist Jason Rigby. He worked as a residency artist and studied with musicians such as Kris Davis, Drew Gress, William Parker, and Mark Guiliana. Outside of academia, he has studied with renowned drummers such as Greg Hutchinson, Johnathan Blake, Paul Wells, and Joe Farnsworth.

The Howard Community College (HCC) Music Concert Series announces the spring 2021 faculty concert to help patrons enjoy the spring season. The concert entitled, “On the Wings of Spring", will be a showcase of exquisite works for cello/piano by Debussy, Fauré, and Cassadó. The virtual concert will also feature a single-movement Beethoven Piano Trio and Beethoven Piano Sonata Op. 81a "Les Adieux" in celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday.
