Let’s Get in Touch: Thinking about Tactility in 20th Century American Art at the Baltimore Museum of Art with Virginia Anderson, Curator of American Art and Department Head of American Painting & Sculpture and Decorative Arts
TU composition students have written pieces for Whistling Hens, a duo comprised of TU clarinet professor Natalie Groom and soprano Jennifer Piazza-Pick. Whistling Hens will perform the student works and provide feedback from the performer perspective. Guest composer Sonia Morales-Matos will provide feedback from the composer perspective.
Award-winning author and journalist Dara Horn will present, “In the Haunted Present: Dara Horn’s Dream for Living Jews.”
Horn – who has addressed audiences in hundreds of venues throughout North America, Israel and Australia – will discuss Jewish life in America post Oct. 7, 2023: particularly the rise of antisemitism. The talk will tie in with her book: People Love Dead Jews: Reports from a Haunted Present.
Sonia Morales-Matos, featured guest composer, joins the TU Composition Studio for a masterclass.
Sonia Ivette Morales-Matos is a Puerto Rican composer, performer, and educator who belongs to a family of distinguished musicians. Her compositions explore a wide variety of styles and genres such as chamber music, the concerto, choral music, Latin Jazz, pop, sacred and/or contemporary Christian, and Latin or Tropical music.

For the stories we carry quietly and the healing in saying them out loud.
Voices from the Margins is a monthly storytelling circle where healing, truth, and deep connection meet. This is a sanctuary for those stories that live just beneath the surface, the ones you may never have spoken aloud, but they shape who you are.
Over six weeks, you will develop the core skills needed to host and perform a professional showcase of improv comedy. Highwire Improv’s expert instructors will be with you every step of the way, holding the space to make silly choices, explore comedy, and learn how to create art together. By the end of the class, you will be an ensemble ready to host and put on a full student showcase!

Enjoy Sherlock Holmes? Join with other like-minded people and celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Annual Saturday with Sherlock Holmes at the Pratt Library Central Library (400 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201), Wheeler Auditorium.
