Respighi's Pines of Rome and the composer's lesser-known but infectiously brilliant gem, Brazilian Impressions, form the centerpiece of this program. This concert also features the works of two powerhouse women composers, including Jennifer Higdon’s Low Brass Concerto, co-commissioned by the BSO. Percussionist Colin Currie returns with a new concerto by Scottish composer Helen Grime.

Four-time Tony Award nominee for Excellence in Theatre Education and multi-award nominated singer Corinna Sowers Adler debuted Something Beautiful in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s majestic Appel Room. Filled with inspiring songs by Billy Joel, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Elton John, Stephen Schwartz, and others, Corinna will mesmerize and delight while packing an emotional punch. Corinna will include a chorus of Havre de Grace High School singers.

WSaxQ is the most widely heard saxophone quartet in the United States. Since 1997, recorded arrangements by the Washington Saxophone Quartet have aired daily throughout the United States on NPR’s broadcasts of “All Things Considered.” Concert audiences enjoy their connection to WSaxQ when they discover they’ve been listening to the quartet’s music during afternoon “drive-time.” And it often comes as a surprise that they’ve been hearing four saxophones!
