Free Concert - Art Songs by Jason Mulligan and Alissa Roca

Free Concert - Art Songs by Jason Mulligan and Alissa Roca

Come join us at Springfield Presbyterian Church for the first concert in our 2019-2020 concert series. Our venue has wonderful acoustics and an intimate setting, perfect for concerts of this type.

Our July 7th concert will feature Alissa Roca and Jason Mulligan. They are long time collaborators who share a passion for blending contemporary music with old classics. Praised for her ethereal coloratura and clear, expressive voice, Alissa Roca enjoys performing in a variety of styles ranging from Baroque to Contemporary and everything in between. She has performed around the country with a wide range of groups including the Young Victorian Theatre Company, Opera Fayetteville, and Opera Naples. She has premiered over sixteen pieces including multiple works for which she wrote the text.

Jason Mulligan is an internationally performed composer who seeks to blur the line between contemporary pop culture and the western classical music tradition. His music has been performed at a wide range of institutions including Southern Methodist University, Idyllwild Arts Academy, the Basically Beethoven Festival, and the MacPhail Center for Music to name a few.

As a duo Alissa and Jason have been collaborating since 2012 when Alissa premiered his first composition for voice. Today they are interested in presenting concerts that show the standard repertoire in a new context by pairing it with fresh works from both and established and up and coming composers.

Please join us for an afternoon of music followed by a reception.
