Korean Movie Screening & Social: The Thieves

Korean Movie Screening & Social: The Thieves

The Baltimore Korean Movie Series rolls on in June with the blockbuster heist movie The Thieves, which is part of the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C.'s regional outreach presenting free screenings of milestone films at Parkway Theatre in Baltimore, in partnership with the Maryland Film Festival.

While waiting for things to cool down from their last heist, Popie (Lee Jung-jae), Yenicall (Jun Ji-hyun), Chewingum (Kim Hae-sook) and Zampano (Kim Soo-hyun) are offered a lucrative job in Macau. The evasive Macao Park (Kim Yun-seok) is calling the shots, without realizing his old partner – and flame? – Pepsee (Kim Hye-soo) is among the usual suspects joining in. Two Chinese thieves are also brought on board, Johnny (Kwok Cheung Tsang) and Julie (Angelica Lee), with Andrew (Oh Dal-su) and Chen (Simon Yam) rounding out the crew. Heading off to Hong Kong, ten thieves must work together – If they don’t backstab each other first.

With a top-notch ensemble cast, Director Choi Dong-hoon’s The Thieves became the highest grossing film in Korean cinema history upon its release in 2012. The Thieves has been widely screened at film festivals across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

This film is not rated. 139 mins. In Korean with English subtitles.
