Go With Mixolo: How to Catch Creation

No need to opt out of great theater because you can't convince a plus-one. Join other solo theater enthusiasts for a shared treat. You can sit with us.

Christina Anderson’s How to Catch a Creation tells love stories of six characters across nearly 50 years. Set in San Francisco, the play centers on four artists struggling to create. The discovery of works by a feminist writer from the 1960s–a writer who was both black and queer–raises questions about love, artistic endeavor, and the prison industrial complex. American Theatre magazine has identified playwright Anderson as an artist whose work “will be transforming America’s stages for decades to come.” This bittersweet tale about following your passion, delves into life, family and art, offering profound empathy and affirmation.

We've been so impressed with this year's culturally dynamic lineup at Baltimore Center Stage for the 2018/19 season. Exposure to diverse artistic expression allows us to connect first in our humanity, allowing for a deeper understanding and empathy for others' experiences and beliefs. The run of exciting works continues with this world-premiere by Anderson, a Lorraine Hansberry Award winner.

Directed by Nataki Garrett in her Center Stage debut, How to Catch a Creation is produced in association with Philadelphia Theatre Company.
