Brigance Brigade Foundation 5.7K Championship Race & 1.57 Mile Family Run/Walk

On Sunday, April 28th, the Brigance Brigade Foundation, created by former NFL player O.J. Brigance and his wife, Chanda, will host the 6th annual Brigance Brigade Foundation 5.7K Championship Race & 1.57 Mile Family Run/Walk at Canton Waterfront Park in Baltimore, Md.

This family-friendly event, which will celebrate the kick off of ALS Awareness Month (May) will include a timed 5.7K run, a 1.57-mile family run/walk, and a Kid's Fun Run for ages 8 and under. After the races, participants are invited to spend the morning at the event’s Celebration Village featuring a Beer Garden, music, food, a Kids' Fun Zone, harbor views, and more!

New this year: Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, the events Official Food and Beverage Sponsor of the 5.7K Championship Event, will provide a build-your-own brunch bar for participants, as well as a beer and champagne tent, at an added cost.

*Proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation which works to equip, encourage and empower people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS.)

Canton Waterfront Park

Resting between Boston Street and the Baltimore Harbor, Canton Waterfront Park offers terrific views of the harbor and an easily accessible and vista-rich recreational area that is sure to impress. See and appreciate Baltimore’s maritime might, both past (with Fort McHenry sitting prominently across the water) and present (gargantuan U.S. Navy ships docked in the adjacently situated Clinton Street Marine Terminal).

Canton Waterfront Park is positioned as one of the eastern-most access points to the harbor, making the park a useful location for outdoors recreation facilities such as the boat ramp and fishing pier. Similarly, with its multi-use trail, the park also serves as a convenient starting point for traversing the Waterfront Promenade. The Canton Waterfront features about 7.5 miles of trails.

There are a lot of terrific restaurants close by, so the park is popular for walks and the occasional street performer. It’s also a nice place to throw out a blanket for some sun or reading. Little festivals and gatherings are common, and the park is a popular place for viewing events such as the Blue Angels air show or tall ships coming into the Inner Harbor.

Water taxi service at Canton is a great way to move around the city and get some great views, as well.

Canton Dog Park is a fenced area where dogs can run off-leash and exercise, play and socialize with other dogs. There are designated areas for larger dogs and smaller or older dogs. There is shade and nearby parking.

When visiting, be sure to visit the Korean War Memorial, which features a history of the war and contains the names of 527 Marylanders who died in the conflict. Adorned with park green space and generous tree cover, the memorial help makes Canton Waterfront Park an unmistakable treasure in a city replete with charm.
