Where does inspiration come from? How do artists influence each other? In Take a Look!: The Fandom of Make Studio we make evident how artists connect to one another through a visual language.
Since its founding in 2010, Make Studio artists have been supported by staff, volunteers, and interns in their artistic pursuits. As support folks, we go through the art-making process with the artist. We often have backgrounds in art ourselves, practice our own art-making, and can offer very insightful feedback, suggestions, and guidance. Seeing the artists constantly creating, as well as the stimulating studio space, brings inspiration to us in our own artwork. New ideas, techniques, and processes emerge as our brains become in tuned with the artists. We become enthusiasts of the Make Studio artists which brings about a fandom as we empathize and find comradery in our common art interests.
The exhibition Take a Look!: The Fandom of Make Studio will feature artworks by Make Studio support staff, volunteers, and interns that were inspired by their time at Make Studio.
Take a Look!: The Fandom of Make Studio opens to the public on Saturday, March 15, 2019 in our Showroom Gallery in the Schwing Art Center, 3326 Keswick Rd., Baltimore, MD.
