Korean Movie Series & Social: The Face Reader

Korean Movie Series & Social: The Face Reader

For its first film of 2019, the Baltimore Korean Movie Series presents the hit historical drama The Face Reader, as the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. continues its regional outreach through this free series of milestone films at Parkway Theatre in Baltimore, in partnership with the Maryland Film Festival.

During a politically volatile time like Korea’s 15th century Joseon Dynasty, a master of the ancient art of face reading can be a valuable asset. Nae-gyeong’s skills are unmatched, and he lives a quiet, comfortable life. But when a lucrative job offer from a powerful woman proves too tempting, Nae-gyeong is soon embroiled in a murder plot only he can solve. His prowess attracts the attention of King Munjong, who himself is under threat from potential traitors. Nae-gyeong must decide whether to remain loyal to his king or fall in line with the power-hungry Grand Prince Suyang, who is determined to take the throne by any means necessary.

Light Korean appetizers will be provided at 6:30 p.m. before the film.

Admission is free. RSVP is required.
