Ina Helrich and Alex Cooper Auctioneers Opening Reception

Maryland Art Place (MAP) is excited to present its first exhibition of the year at Hotel Indigo, featuring the works of recently deceased, Baltimore based artist, Ina Claire Helrich. Join us, in partnership with Alex Cooper Auctioneers, in celebrating Ina Helrich's life.

Ina Claire Helrich was known as a prolific Baltimore painter and printmaker who exhibited her work in over 60 juried shows and 14 solo exhibits throughout her lifetime. She graduated from the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and later studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where a scholarship fund was established in her name. Kornblatt Gallery, the Baltimore Museum of Art Sales and Rental Gallery, and C. Grimaldis Gallery represented Helrich locally.

Helrich was active in the art community as a past president of the Maryland Chapter of Artists Equity Association and founded the Maryland Artists Equity Foundation in 1984. Additionally, she was involved in the Baltimore Arts Festival Planning Committee, the Art Committee of the Jewish Community Center, and Artscape. Helrich dedicated her life to supporting the work of Maryland artists.

Alex Cooper Auctioneers will be auctioning Mrs. Helrich's complete body of work as part of their Alex Cooper Art Select Auction program. The auction will be held online beginning April 17 through April 26. Catch a sneak peek of the collection up for auction at Hotel Indigo at the opening reception!

We look forward to seeing you there!
