Sofia Talvik - Americana / Folk with Swedish Roots

Sofia Talvik - Americana / Folk with Swedish Roots

Sofia Talviks music has a special tint of her Scandinavian heritage, making her a favorite among music lovers. A North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy. She is a veteran performer with 6 full length albums who tours both Europe and USA every year. She’s seen more states, and more places in the USA than the average american, and she seems to love it.

Her "Far North / Down South" Fall tour 2019 started in Florida, and works it's way trough the American heartland with a stop at Americana Fest in Nashville. The tour then continues all the way up to the border of Canada, over the Upper Peninsula and then back to Florida along the east coast - a round trip of nearly 5000 miles. Most of the concerts will take place in intimate venues, a perfect setting for an evening of heartfelt music and interesting stories about the people and places this European songwriter have met along the road trough the 47 states she's toured trough. She will be sharing a variety of songs from her 7 full length albums, as well as some new tunes from her upcoming album, due to be released early next year.

She has been compared with giants like Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins, as well as fellow Swedes "First Aid Kit", but has her own raw quality, a down to earth sound that makes her brilliant songwriting skills shimmer even more. She doesn’t have to hide behind the sounds, her songs and performance speaks for themselves.

Sofia Talvik was charting as the 3rd most played artist on Folk Radio USA in December, and her Christmas album "When Winter Comes" charted as no 5. Her Christmas single charted as no 7.

Her latest album ”Big Sky Country” (named one of the 5 best Americana albums of the year by British newspaper The Telegraph) celebrates her love for the vast plains, big mountains and sandy coastlines in the states that she toured through, as well as the warm and quirky people she met on the road. "One of the most distinctively memorable Americana albums of recent years was made by a tirelessly touring, talented Swedish songwriter Sofia Talvik" wrote New York Music Daily when Sofia Talvik’s toured along the East Coast last year.

She’s played the big festivals like Lollapalooza and SxSW, opened for artists like Maria McKee and David Duchovny (X-files, Californication) but the intimate setting of a smaller stage where she can casually joke and communicate with the audience is really where her strength as a performer shines the most.

"Even though this young lady is from Sweden, I’d place her at the forefront of the American vanguard. One listen will tell you why and how." - PopDose

"A singer/songwriter who is able to evoke the essence of Laurel Canyon circa the ’60s." - NoDepression

Sofia Talvik - Americana / Folk with Swedish Roots

"Big Sky Country" is the title track from Swedish artist Sofia Talvik's 6th album. Sofia was inspired by a year-and-half tour she did, which took her to 37 of the 50 states. That's a lot of life lived, road seen, venues played and people met, so Talvik decided to share what she witnessed with her fans via this video, comprised of clips from her experiences on the road. You can live vicariously through her and ride sidecar with her.
