Roger Schmelzer puts the American Songbook to generous and charming use in an upbeat tuneful evening directed by the legendary Marilyn Maye. He made a “delightful” NYC debut according to Theater Pizzazz, bringing a crisp, fresh sound to classic pop tunes and underperformed cabaret gems.

The title “HeartSongs” refers to Roger’s optimistic focus on what is good and what works in our lives. “The Great American Songbook has never had more to offer,” he says. “This music brings us together and reassures friends and family that they can chart their own course with confidence, conviction and a spring in their step.”

Roger’s CD, "About Now" was described by public radio as "Chock-full of the sorts of clever lyrics and lush arrangements that characterize songs for intimate settings from the last century to today." Tracks from “About Now" have been played extensively on radio stations and streaming services around the world.

Roger has served on the board of the Great American Songbook Foundation founded by Michael Feinstein, is past board chair for The Cabaret in Indianapolis and raises money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, second only to the U.S. government as a finder of pediatric cancer research. Roger and his wife, Indianapolis actor Cindy Phillips have three grown children and a granddaughter!
