Many of today’s most controversial issues—workplace harassment, immigration, racial profiling, the wealth gap, gay marriage, and more—center on questions of sameness and difference, equality and inequality. On November 3, Baltimore’s Full Circle Dance Company will shed light on these heated debates with the new show Same/Difference: Inside Inequality. What is it like to be a woman working in a field traditionally dominated by men? A Muslim in a nation afraid of Islamic terrorism? An immigrant in a time of tightening borders? How do changing marriage taboos play out for real people? How does America’s history of slavery affect us today? In Same/Difference, diverse choreographers illuminate these questions and more, using movement, music, and words to provide new perspectives.
