Benny Golson Quartet

Saxophonist Benny Golson, a true jazz legend, will be giving a concert at a unique Baltimore jazz venue, accompanied by pianist Sharp Radway, bassist Kris Funn, and drummer John Lamkin III.

Now approaching his 90th birthday, Golson has played with a host of other jazz greats, has toured the globe with his music, has recorded 30 albums, and has written over 300 compositions, including scores for several popular television shows. He is winner of a Jazz Masters Award of the National Endowment for the Arts and an honoree of the International Academy of Jazz Hall of Fame at the University of Pittsburgh. Benny Golson is a true innovator who has made major contributions to the world of jazz.

The concert at Jazzway 6004 will give jazz fans the opportunity to enjoy a living legend backed by a top-flight band in a cozy and cordial atmosphere. Named by DownBeat Magazine as one of the leading House Concert venues in the United States, the popular jazz venue is a 501(c) 3 arts organization in operation for over a decade. Concerts are hosted by founders Marianne Matheny-Katz and Howard Katz in a large home on a hill with ample free parking on the street.

In addition to great music, guests will be treated to soft drinks, a raffle entry and a buffet with fruit, cheese, appetizers and dessert post-concert. All tickets must be purchased in advance from the website.
