In 1851, Johns Hopkins commissioned a mural depicting a ‘View of the Bay of Naples’ to greet his guests and utilized other unique painted decorations throughout his county residence, Clifton Mansion in northeast Baltimore. Join Edward Heimiller, Curator of The Stephen J. Ponzillo, Jr. Memorial Library & Museum, as he discusses sources and trends related to the recently uncovered murals at Clifton and other notable Baltimore residences such as the Wyman Villa, formerly located on the campus of Johns Hopkins University, and 5 West Mt. Vernon Place, home of William T. Walters and his son Henry Walters, founders of the Walters Art Museum.
