On an annual basis the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute, in collaboration with the office of the Provost, convenes a symposium focused on the social determinants of health. This year marks the 50th anniversary of a series of events that happened in 1968 that sparked social change both on a national and local level, such as the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, the protests at the Democratic National Convention, the riots in Baltimore, the Poor People’s Campaign, and the anti-war movement.

Join us to hear from local and national leaders as they reflect on activism and social justice from 1968 to 2018. It is our hope that from this event we will be able to build stronger partnerships and collaborations to improve the health and well-being of Baltimore communities.
