The North Avenue Knowledge Exchange is an educational program focused on building sustainable relationships that strengthen communities along North Avenue. This justice-oriented, community-based education seeks to build on the agency of grassroots organizing and the existing beauty and knowledge within Station North, Penn North, and Greenmount West. Guided by the principle that everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn, the North Avenue Knowledge Exchange aims to connect community members with access to city-wide and community-based resources by bringing together key neighborhood stakeholders to vision, build, and sustain this information-sharing network.

This project is committed to providing access to information and community resources in support of social justice and civil rights. The North Avenue Knowledge Exchange aims to create equitable spaces and infrastructure to share knowledge, power and access to education in our community. Based on a model of exchange, this program aims to contribute to the livelihood and sustainability of community-based learning.

The North Avenue Knowledge Exchange was created in partnership with MICA, Station North Arts & Entertainment District, and Red Emma’s Bookstore and Coffeehouse--home of The Baltimore Free School. The North Avenue Knowledge Exchange is funded in part by Mayor Catherine E. Pugh and the Creative Baltimore Fund, and an “Our Town” award from The National Endowment for the Arts.
