The Reform Jewish synagogues of Baltimore will hold the Hoffberger Foundation for Torah Studies Scholar-in-Residence Weekend April 20 to 22 with Rabbi David Ruderman of the University of Pennsylvania. Ruderman will present four lectures. His third lecture, “Debate: Faith vs. Reason,” will discuss 20th-century, American-based thinkers Mordechai Kaplan and Abraham Joshua Heschel, who held opposing positions on embracing the unaffiliated Jew.
